Kiwi Acushla-Tara Kupe doesn't let Covid-19 stop her performing

Covid-19 might have derailed the plans of people across the globe but Kiwi actress Acushla-Tara Kupe hasn't let it get in the way of her continuing to perform. The actress has been based in London since June 2016 but was back in New Zealand at the start of this year to perform in Morgan Lloyd Malcolm's Emilia at the Pop-up Globe in Auckland.

A Taranaki actor has returned to New Zealand from London to perform in a starring role at Auckland's Pop-Up Globe. Acushla-Tara Kupe, who has been acting in theatre shows and short films in the UK for three years, flew home in January to surprise her family with the news she would be living here while she performed in the theatre show Emilia.

Cast Announced For London's Free Open Air Theatre Season 2019

London's Free Open Air Theatre Season will return to The Scoop at London Bridge City for a 16th year with the world premiere of The Sea Queen, a one-hour family show about the Irish pirate Grainne O'Malley, and Shakespeare's popular romantic comedy Twelfth Night.

A motivating bottle of wine bought in Paris was expected to gather dust but instead sat for a mere two weeks before Acushla-Tara Kupe was rewarded with a taste. The New Plymouth-born actress purchases a nice bottle of wine or craft beer, assigns a career focused goal to it and only allows herself to crack it open upon hitting her mark. The 27-year-old worked in the casting department for the feature film Ghost In The Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson, and attended the movie's premiere in Paris last year.

WHY NETWORKING IS SO IMPORTANT…

Acushla-Tara Kupe signed with Q Management and subsequently filmed a new series for CBBC after networking at Surviving Actors 2017… Here is her story!

How did you meet Q Management?

I attended the Surviving Actors Expo at the beginning of the year and met Ziggie at a showreel clinic. Free 1-2-1 feedback clinics were being held throughout the day for headshots and showreels and when I signed up Ziggie was suggested as good fit. Little did I realize how good the fit would be!
